Float therapy is a powerful tool for wellness, relaxation, pain relief and better sleep. As with any therapy, with regular use its benefits are enhanced. Stress, tension and pain have formed over time and will take some time to experience the greatest relief—luckily, floating is a relaxing, fun,and effortless way to do so!
Float therapy offers relief and benefits which are cumulative—they build on themselves with each subsequent session. We like to say “the more you float, the better it gets”, as floats themselves deepen beyond the first session. Though flotation is an “effortless” therapy, the body and mind actually learn how to relax into the float with each session.
For these reasons, we encourage guests to return to floating more than once, and to receive sessions on a regular basis to maintain their benefits.
Float therapy presents an alternative to addressing injuries, chronic conditions, and sore muscles. The low-gravity environment allows for blood vessels to dilate and nutrients to flow faster to areas in need, accelerating recovery time and allowing the body to heal more naturally and efficiently. Athletic injuries, arthritis, inflammation, and fibromyalgia pain relief have all been documented via use of the tank.
Research shows floating dramatically reduces the presence of cortisol, the hormonal steroid associated with stress, and instead stimulates the release of dopamine in it’s place. Mitigating stress hormones enhances immune functions and alleviates stress related influences such as anxiety and depression.
Floating is like a multivitamin for the brain. By minimizing external distractions the mind is able to focus its attention inward, discovering and analyzing habitual thought patterns and leading to vast introspection. Learned oversight of these thoughts can lead to enhanced creativity, visualization, and rejuvenation.
By eliminating the effects of external stimuli, the body’s sympathetic nervous system (fights or flight response) has a chance to relax, allowing brainwaves to slow into a Theta State. This level of consciousness promotes mental rejuvenation and is often sought through a dedicated meditative practice.
Floating also assists in heightened senses, increased immune function as well as helping with sleeplessness or insomnia.
